Anonymous asked: Hiii, what's your opinion for the end of Yatori? Do you think it will ACTUALLY become canon? Can it? It is a Shounen :/
Friend, Yato has tried to ask Hiyori to marry him like twice.
Have you seen chapter 41?
It’s a shounen, but that doesn’t mean that a ship can’t become canon or romance can’t happen. I mean, look at FMA, or Rurouni Kenshin, or Inuyasha, or like a multitude of other shounens that tease ships or have ships end up as canon. Being a shounen doesn’t bar a series from having romance or canon ships. Shounen has a reputation of not having much romance because that’s not the focus, but not much romance doesn’t mean no romance.
Yatori is pushed extremely heavily in the noragami, but I think it’s been very well done so far. Not only that, Bishamon/Kazuma is also heavily hinted at, and so is Daikoku/Kofuku. The creators, Adachitoka, do not shy away from romance. Hiyori has blatantly said that she wanted to be with Yato (in chapter 24, and then later in chapter 30, when she was forgetting him and experiencing distress because of this).
Yato has admitted or alluded to his feelings far more. In chapter 18, Kaguha kidnaps Hiyori because he recognizes her as Yato’s important person, and her kidnapping causes Yato to challenge Bishamon head on. Kazuma says that the reason that Yato has not gone into hiding is because of Hiyori.
In chapter 25, Yato refers to Hiyori as “the girl” that he wants and alludes to wanting to marry her and go on romantic dates with her in chapter 24. In chapter 27 after Hiyori gives him the shrine, Yato promises to make Hiyori the happiest girl in the world.
He says again in chapter 33 that he wants to become a person who can make Hiyori happy.
And then chapter 41 is just pure straight up Yatori fluff. The entire chapter. I mean, look at this.
He’s kissing her hand bro.
And I’ve left out a BUNCH of other moments.
So, do I think it’s canon? Yeah.
Do I think they’re going to get together in the end? Hell yeah.
And am I all that concerned about Yato being a god and Hiyori being a human? Not really. There are ways to creatively solve that problem - and it’s been shown in the series that humans can become spiritual entities or become deified through being “worshiped.”
So yeah - I think we’re going to get a happy, yatori filled ending.
